Wonderful Weekend

We had a WONDERFUL weekend. John & Cheryl picked me up Sun. morning to go to Heidi's and Artie's house in Pasco WA. On the way to Heidi's, John took a road up to the top of a hill that wasn't too far from Heidi's, and which looked out over the whole valley - just gorgeous. Both the Yakima and the Columbia River were visible along with the town of Prosser.

We got to Heidi's about 3:30 or more and had a great visit. Heidi prepared dinner for all of us. She has a very nice and comfortable house - I felt right at home. I had my walker with me so Cheryl, Artie & I took their dog for a walk around the complex where they live. John got sick and was in bed by 8 p.m. so Cheryl, Heidi & Artie watched one of the Transformers movies and I went into "my" bedroom and read until their movie was over when the rest of us went to bed. I got to see Heidi the morning before she left for work for a minute or so. Artie was off work today so he fixed John & me some breakfast and we left there by 9:30 and, as we left, it started raining.

On the way home we were going to take a tour of the Darigold Dairy plant but they were in the midst of remodeling so we couldn't do that. We stopped at a combination antique store & fruit stand in Selah WA where we strolled for close to one hour just looking at everything they had in there. Cheryl bought some more Fenton Glassware and they had a little glass plaque there that said Fenton. I couldn't pass it up so I bought it. Cheryl told me that when she was doing a study of the Fenton family, we are some shirt tail relation to the Fenton Glassware part of the family - don't know where though.

When we left there, we went up the road about 12 miles to another fruit stand in Naches John & Cheryl know about to get some special kind of apples they grow up here. When we left there, we did more sightseeing and stopping for breaks. We stopped in Ellensburg at Dairy Queen and had a blizzard, which I hadn't had for a while. It rained so hard in some places coming down the pass, that John could barely see the road even with the windshield wipers on high. Everyone was putting on their brakes and slowing down.

After we left DQ, we stopped at the Salmon Fish Hatchery in Issaquah to see the salmon "climb the ladders" in order to spawn. Then they die after they've laid their eggs. When we left there, we came down the hill to Olive Garden and had dinner. When we got back here, John put some of my summer clothes in a bin and got them back up on the top shelf of my closet. I had told Cheryl she could have my pressure cooker so she dug that out and took it home with her. I told her that the next time I come up there for dinner, I want Porcupine Meat Balls with mashed potatoes and green beans. John seconded the motion so she said she would make them as she's also been hungry for that meal.

All in all, we had a FANTASTIC two days and did a LOT of laughing, which is so good for any of us.
